The Track — Cygnet Town Hall
Our home venue in the Huon Valley. Foam RCP track, foam barriers, and a layout that changes most race nights.
Tassie Mini-Z Club races at the Cygnet Town Hall, a heritage hall in the Huon Valley about 50 minutes south of Hobart. We set up a portable foam RCP track inside — that modular surface is what the cars race on, not the polished timber floor underneath.

The venue
Address: 14 Mary St, Cygnet TAS 7112.
The hall is a single large room with enough space for a full layout, pit tables along the walls, and spectators. Race night is relaxed: kids are welcome, people share tools, and nobody expects you to know everything on night one.
Surface: Foam RCP (RC Parts) interlocking track tiles. High grip, consistent, and what our tyre advice is written around. The polished hardwood is the hall floor under and around the portable track — nice to look at, not the racing surface.
Layout: Foam barriers on the RCP mats. The layout changes most meets so the driving challenge stays fresh.
Facilities: Toilets, a kitchen with tea and coffee, and street parking outside. Bring a pit mat or towel for your table if you can.
Getting there
From Hobart, take the Huon Highway (A6) south through Huonville to Cygnet. The hall is on Mary Street in the centre of town. Allow about 50 minutes from Hobart CBD — a bit longer if you hit weekend traffic in the valley.
What to expect
Doors open for setup and practice, then racing once the track and timing are ready. Expect overhead fluorescent lighting (bright enough for racing; a small torch helps in the pits), tea and coffee in the kitchen, and a friendly pit lane.
RCP grip is high compared with a garage floor. Soft racing tyres matter; the stock Readyset rubber will feel like ice. If you are new, start in Driver (half-speed) or Box Stock and ask someone in the pits before you buy hop-ups — see Classes we race.
Track layout
We race on foam RCP track tiles with foam barriers. A typical night might include a main straight with a timing loop, a few sweeping corners, a tight hairpin, and sometimes a chicane — but that is a feel, not a fixed map.
Layouts change most meets. We design and share them on playrc.app so you can study the track online before you leave home. Check the events page and club channels for the link to that night’s layout.
Race nights
Doors open around 5:30 PM for setup and practice. Racing usually starts around 6:00 PM. We aim to wrap by 9:00 PM. Exact times can vary — always confirm on the events page.
